KENNEWICK, Wash.- NBC Right Now continues to follow the progress of the much anticipated Carousel of Dreams.
It took nearly a decade of hard work to make the dream become a reality at the ground breaking last November at the Southridge Sports Complex.
The carousel is now 75-percent funded thanks to generous business owners and people in the community.
The City of Kennewick is exited for its progress and says the project has really taken off.
The carousel mechanism that is being built in Mansfield, Indiana is a third completed and all the horses are here locally ready to be assembled.
City council member Paul Parrish envisioned this dream with a childhood friend growing up, now it's almost complete. "When it's done, they'll store it until the buildings ready. Then they will send their people out here and instruct how to put it together," said Parrish.
The 102-year-old Charles Carmel Carousel and the building that will hold it should be completed by late summer or early fall.
