PASCO, Wash. - Construction at one of the three new elementary schools in Pasco is underway. It is one of three schools that are set to be built by 2015. The new school is located along Road 52 off Powerline Road in Pasco.
This week, workers are building stem walls and laying the pads for the primary foundation.
Deidre Holmberg is the planning principal for the new school. She says she has been out on the site throughout construction and everything is running right on schedule.
"The crews are moving fast and doing a really good job we've had eyes and ears on site every day and its been a great experience," Holmberg said.
The school is set to open in August for the 2014 school year. Holmberg says there will be some hiring to fill staff and teaching positions for all three new schools.
She also says there will be a lot of movement within the district by the time the three schools are open in 20-15.
The district will be taking suggestions on names for the newest school from the public starting in September.
