PRESCOTT, Wash. - The Prescott School District now has $6,500 for its music department after receiving a grant from the Music Matters License Plate Project.
Created by Music Aid Northwest and managed by the Washington Music Educators Association, the project presented its first Music Matters Grant Thursday to Prescott.
The district says the funds will be used to purchase, repair, and maintain instruments for the students.
An equal grant is expected to be awarded in the next few months to a school district in western Washington.
The Washington Music Educators Association says money for the grants is raised by selling proposed license plates.
