WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Walla Walla Police say a man is now in jail in connection with a string of commercial burglaries.
Police say they arrested 23-year-old Dakota M. Hopkins after he trespassed at a home on the 1200 block of Boyer Avenue.
Officers say they have evidence linking Hopkins to 8 burglaries at local businesses including Spence Tire, Greiner's Radiator, Bacon & Eggs, Walla Walla Community College, Wing and a Prayer, Franz Bakery, Taqueria Yungapeti, and Rositas Restaurant.
Police say the businesses suffered damages of about $2,200 and thefts of cash and other items around $3,590.
Officers say when they served a search warrant on Hopkins' car, they found Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Hopkins faces 8 counts of second degree burglary, 2 counts of second degree theft, 3 counts of third degree theft, 1 count of second degree malicious mischief, and 7 counts of third degree malicious mischief.
A judge has set bail for Hopkins at $55,000 for these charges, in addition to $5,000 bail for unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia, and the Trespassing charge.
