Washington Dept. of Labor & Industries Stay at Work

The Stay at Work Program at Labor & Industries
In Washington State, nearly 3 million workers are covered by workers’ compensation insurance by the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I). About 3-4% of them may get injured on the job this year. Most will get medical care and miss less than 3 days of work. Some may not be able to return to work unless they are supported with medically appropriate light-duty jobs.

This video portrays actual costs incurred when a worker loses a job connection after an injury and how medically-approved light duty aids in recovery and helps manage costs. It also covers the incentives L&I provides to both medical providers and employers. For employers, the Stay at Work Program will reimburse up to $10,000 for half the base wages of an injured worker provided with a light-duty job.
The Stay at Work Program is just one way that L&I strives to “Keep Washington Safe and Working.”
